We’re having lunch when Becky Young tells me her “I’m so fat” story. I’m nodding along, barely pausing on my way to nicking her sweet-potato fries, because I’ve heard this story so often, not just from my friends, but in my head.
Young was 26 and had graduated from a history degree at Oxford, overcome the hurdles of a serious disease affecting her leg, embarked on an exciting career in event management and saved up enough to pay for an adventurous holiday in Central America. What a time to be alive!
