WHY?

The beginning of every new year is flooded with society’s obsession with starting a new regime, a new diet plan, a new self-improvement project – as if to say there is something very wrong with us at the end of each year or that we haven’t done enough. The cliche of ‘New Year, New You’ encourages us to buy into an idealised version of our future selves, often with a fancy product or price tag attached.

In reality, the pressure of achieving these strict goals leaves a lot of us feeling guilty and ashamed for not achieving this radical upheaval of our lives or for not having the ‘right’ goal in the first place.

WHAT IF instead of trying to change our body, we learnt to love and respect and live freely in the one we have right now?

WHAT IF we looked forward to 2022 and the future while still trusting our own wisdom?

Here to burn the toxic mental torture of the ‘new year, new me’ trope, The Anti Diet Riot Club presents ‘New Years’ Revolutions’ in partnership with Peckham Levels.

Throughout January and February we’ll be hosting a variety of workshops and events inviting you to care for yourself, your body and your community in a loving and soft way. From creative workshops to panel discussions and the premiere screening of ‘The Body Fights Back’ documentary, there’s a little something for everyone who wants to reject diet culture and embrace body acceptance.
